Cuba with Mike and Shaun Lawson

Hosted Trips

Join us for Cuba! As many of you know my son Shaun works at Yellow Dog Fly Fishing Adventures in Bozeman, Montana. I’m proud and excited to be joining Shaun on this hosted trip. I’ve always had this great flats fishing on my bucket list but the time wasn’t right and I always balked at the travel time to get from Idaho to the fishing destination. Now that has changed so that it is the same travel time as a trip to the Bahamas. Our destination is Jardines de la Reina, an archipelago located off the southern coast of Cuba about the size of the Florida Keys. Anglers will stay on a liveaboard houseboat where each morning, anglers are met by guides and skiff to head out for the day. Yellow Dog has recently updated the Cuba travel logistics for Jardines de la Reina, sending anglers through Camaguey, Cuba, dubbed the City of Churches. This drastically cuts down on the amount of travel time for anglers in JDR to only a few hours of transfer time (versus the 8 hour ride of previous years). The cost for the trip is $6,300 per person (based on double occupancy). We still have space during this prime time for tarpon, bonefish and permit.

Pesca Maya Lodge Mexico with Todd Lanning

    Hosted Trips

This November Todd Lanning will be hosting a trip sponsored by Yellow Dog Fly Fishing Adventures to the Pesca Maya Lodge in the Southern Yucatan. We have visited this lodge in early November and all we can say is that it is one of the best. Located in the middle of the center of the 1.3 million-acre Sian Ka’an Biosphere Reserve, Pesca Maya offers one of the best values for fishing the saltwater flats found anywhere in the world. To top that off, the lodge has extended their off-season rate which is 20% lower than their peak season rate. If you’ve spent any time around Todd, you’ll know that he is one of the most personal, attentive, and enjoyable men to spend time with. This hosted trip is a bargain you won’t want to miss. If you’re a beginning saltwater angler, Ascension Bay is one of the best places in the world to catch your first bonefish. For more seasoned anglers, this is one of the world’s best locations to target permit with a fly. With hundreds of square miles of flats, it is not uncommon to see bonefish, permit, tarpon, snook, and barracuda all in the same day.

Peacock Bass with Andy Jenkins in Brazil

    Hosted Trips

Fishing the waters of the Amazon basin is one of the most exciting angling experiences available today, with trophy peacock bass, payara, piranha, pacu, aruana and numerous other exotic species found throughout the region. Agua Boa Lodge - operating for more than 10 years - is arguably the finest fly fishing operation in the Amazon, with great guides, excellent equipment, and the most comfortable amenities and accommodations found anywhere in the jungle! Agua Boa is the only fly fishing only lodge in the Amazon Basin. The food and accommodations are top notch with comfortable air conditioned bungalows. Andy took this same trip in 2018 and he can’t wait to get back. We recommend you contact Yellow Dog Fly Fishing Adventures direct to reserve your spot for this great trip.

Golden Dorado with Mike Lawson in Bolivia

    Hosted Trips

If you’ve always wanted to catch a Golden Dorado you won’t want to miss this. For the adventurous angler, there are few places on earth that compare to fishing in the Bolivian jungle. Combine the incredible jungle fish with exotic wildlife and colorful native culture, and this is a trip of a lifetime. The Secure Lodge holds a maximum of (6) anglers per week and gives anglers’ access to fish the Upper Secure, Mid Secure, and several tributary streams such as the Maniquicito and Ashahana. One of the biggest draws to fishing this drainage is the sheer numbers of Golden Dorado in this system, and the Secure is noted to be the best river to pursue the famed Pacu. The Secure Lodge is very comfortable and features (4) African wall tent cabins each with a private bathroom, good water pressure, electricity, comfortable beds, a ceiling fan, and they are nicely appointed with dressers, nightstands and everything else you may need. We expect this trip to fill up fast. Please contact former Henry’s Fork Anglers guide John Hudgens at Yellow Dog Fly Fishing Adventures to reserve your spot.
