Henry’s Fork Day

Jun 5, 2012 | Mike Lawson

Mark your calendar on June 16th for the Henry’s Fork Foundation’s annual Henry’s Fork Day. New this year is a free fly fishing expo that includes an unforgettable line-up of speakers: Henry’s Fork legend Mike Lawson, exotic fly fishing expert Jeff Currier, local fishing authority Bruce Staples, and fishing tackle expert John Shaner. World class fly fisherman, fly caster, and fly tier Bob Jacklin of West Yellowstone will combine education and entertainment in a casting demonstration at 4:00 p.m. Jacklin was inducted into the prestigious Fly Fishing Hall of Fame in 2004 and is one of the true legends of fly tying.

Renowned fly tyers Leslie Harrop, Kelly Galloup, and Bruce Staples, among others, will tie throughout the day. John Shaner will also be available from noon to 1:00 p.m. to evaluate antique fly fishing tackle. Learn more about the expo and find a schedule of speakers and tyers at www.henrysfork.org.

Henry’s Fork Day will again feature the Best of the Henry’s Fork Open Casting Competition, a member meeting for anyone interested in learning about the Foundation’s conservation projects and accomplishments of the past year, a silent and live auction with hundreds of items, and a reception and dinner.

The evening reception begins at 4 PM with a host bar (drinks are included with the purchase of a dinner ticket), silent auction, and Jacklin’s casting demonstration. The Foundation will announce the winner of a RO 16 foot Deville drift boat at the end of the evening. Tickets for the Drift Boat Raffle have a suggested donation of $100 and only 125 tickets are sold. Drift Boat Raffle tickets are also available on the Foundation’s website, over the phone—and if not sold out—at Henry’s Fork Day.

The Henry’s Fork Foundation is not offering the traditional breakfast this year in order to provide the fly fishing expo. They hope people will eat at local restaurants and join them for the member meeting at 9:30 AM.

Henry’s Fork Day dinner tickets are $50 and include free beer, wine, and mixed drinks this year. A reserved table for eight is $400 and a purchase at this level provides recognition in the event program. Find out more or purchase tickets by clicking here or by calling 208-652-3567.

Seating is limited and the event often sells out. This year’s Henry’s Fork Day is sponsored by Henry’s Fork Lodge, Pond’s Lodge, RO Drift Boats, and Hardy & Greys.
