Box Canyon

The Box Canyon access is finally open for business. You can put in and take out with no issues. As usual the box is a nymph and streamer game. We have had some serious wind up here this week so any bugs that did hatch are most likely somewhere in Montana! The River has come down from 1790 cfs to 819cfs this morning. In the box I would stick with the usual rubber legs and small bead heads. Bullet quills and zebra midges. Look for Blue wings and caddis as you come to the flat water.

Lower River

The Lower Henry’s Fork is also dropping.1940cfs at Ashton. You may see that fluctuate some depending on weather. The water from the Chester back water on down will be higher and more off color below where Fall River comes in. There are still midges around and caddis are coming back and there are also some March browns around. As far as the Salmon fly hatch is concerned I would guess around the 20th. That of course is just a guess.

South Fork

The South Fork is running 15400 cfs this morning and when I last crossed it, it was dirty to say the least. Making room for this year’s snow pack. It’s always hard to predict when the South Fork will be fishing from year to year.
