Box Canyon
The first week of June did not disappoint! Depending on the section of the Henrys fork you fished there were golden stones, Salmon flies, caddis, pmd’s, March brown’s and so on. In other words, fishing thus far has been amazing. The flows coming out of the box are still on the low side. If you are floating the box with a drift boat plan on leaving some paint on the rocks. There are still salmon flies in the box and nymph fishing is still very good. Use rubber legs and bullet quills. There are plenty of caddis around and march browns. So I would have electric caddis in 16s and 18s. I would have cocktail nymphs as well. The dry dropper is also a good idea. A Henry’s fork foam stone and a black rubber legs is a great idea.

South Fork
There are a few drakes on the South Fork and the word is salmon flies should show up in a week to ten days. I am sure the water will also come up at some point. American Falls Reservoir is only 56% of capacity. They are going to need water at some point. I keep hearing that the South Fork has no plans on raising water but I don’t see how that is possible. I guess we will see what happens. Make sure to have a good supply of rubber legs if you are heading over there.
Madison
Streamer fishing has also been good lately, but definitely a little inconsistent as well. We’ve had some really productive days where fish are chasing readily only to return the next day under the same conditions with very different results. When the bite has been good, some of our better patterns have been Zonkers, olive kim’s, mini loops, and boogie men and on some pretty swift retrieves. Black, Olive, Yellow, and Olive/White have been our best colors but natural has definitely had its moments as well. Make sure you have rubber legs and bullet quills with you.
Yellowstone Park
The Fire hole and the Madison fished well. Pale morning duns and white millers in the Fire Hole. Swing soft hackles in the both rivers is always a good plan this time of the year. Partridge and orange or pheasant tail soft hackles. The Madison in the park is still a little on the high side but should come into shape real soon. I have not personally laid eyes on slough creek but I have heard still too high to fish.
